HNS Message from Deacon John Shalala

 My Dear Brothers of the Holy Name Society:   January 2025  “Happy New Year”  Ready or not, 2025 is here and with it a new time for a refreshing and energizing restart  for all.  As this new year rolls in, let us take a moment to reflect upon the accomplishments of  last year; those that we are so proud of and in addition let us also recognize our short  comings especially with family and friends that we are not so proud of; perhaps the  times we could have held back, reconsidered, been more thoughtful, have been more  understanding and patient.  It’s never too late to make amends even though you may  think it is not your fault.  Our world today has certainly been turned upside down by all the negativity especially  with the many different forms of social media that corrode our lives and sadly, we are  the ones that experience the damage both emotionally and spiritually whether we  realize it or not.  But as we transition into this New Year we can, in a truly positive way,  look ahead to a future of great possibilities.  Let us show our families and friends how  much we value their love and contribution and take the time to appreciate those around  us. Let’s make sure we find some special ways to celebrate this New Year, all  throughout the year, together.  My brothers, this is also the perfect time to invite someone to join our wonderful society.  When was the last time you asked another gentleman to join us?   Don’t put this off any  longer.  Make this a New Year’s resolution and ask your brother, son, friend, co-worker  to join us.  The more brothers we have, the more we can accomplish in His Name.  A new year is like a new dawn and we can be assured that the Son rises and sets with  each one of us during all the various times and situations in our lives.  And we can begin  with a clean slate; let’s decorate it with much love, greatness, success, humility, gratitude,  prayer, and the awareness of those around us.  When you say “Happy New Year” mean it.  Let it come, not only from your words, but  also from your heart.  In continuing our advent throughout the whole year, I wish you 12 months of hope, 52  weeks of peace, 365 days of joy, 8,760 hours of love, 525,600 minutes of grace, and  31,536,000 seconds of God’s blessings.  “HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025”
